Pumpout Boat

Summer holidays in West Harbor.

Fishers Island is part of a federal No Discharge Zone (NDZ): Treated and untreated sewage discharge from vessels is prohibited. Vessel operators must keep sewage in holding tanks onboard for discharge at sea (beyond three miles from shore) or onshore at a pump-out facility.

Boats moored or anchored in West Harbor or East Harbor, with full holding tanks, can call Pete’s Marine Services (Groton, CT) for pump-outs throughout the summer season. FIConservancy pays an annual fee of $10,000 to Pete’s Marine Services to ensure that sewage is disposed of properly in Fishers Island’s harbors.

Make reservations online for Monday and Wednesday pump-outs, or reach the company for Saturday and Sunday services on VHF CH 68. Pete’s boats will also pass through West Harbor and East Harbor on Saturdays and Sundays for unscheduled pump-outs.
