DESCRIPTION:Join Us: An Evening with FIRST Researcher Tyler McMahon\n Friday\, July 17 | 5:30 PM | Fishers Island Community Center \nPlease join the Fishers Island Conservancy for a special community program featuring FIRST (Fishers Island Research & Survey Team) researcher Tyler McMahon on Friday\, July 17th at 5:30 PM at the Fishers Island Community Center. \nTyler will be presenting his PhD proposal defense titled Evaluating Ecological and Social Outcomes of Long-Term Habitat Restoration on Fishers Island\, New York\, a study that takes a close look at how restoration work happening right here on Fishers Island is shaping local biodiversity and community engagement with conservation over time. \nHis research brings together arthropod sampling\, bird surveys\, and public outreach assessment to explore whether restoration efforts are not only improving ecological communities\, but also deepening public support for conservation. It is a question that connects the science happening in the field directly to the community that calls this island home. \nThis is a wonderful opportunity to hear directly from the researcher doing this work and to learn more about what long-term restoration looks like on Fishers Island.
